Grand Seiko ‘Hotaka Peaks’ Spring Drive GMT SBGE277

The design of this timepiece is inspired by the Hotaka Mountains, one of Japan’s greatest mountain chains, which stand tall before the Grand Seiko Shinshu Watch Studio.

The Hotaka Mountains emerged following a dramatic rise of the land due to volcanic activity and is a stretch of peaks over 3,000 metres with steep slopes and craggy cliffs in their high altitudes.

‘The Nature of Time’ theme features prominently in Grand Seiko watch designs – a Japanese spirituality where each moment is a unique expression unveiled through light and shadow. The watchmakers’ pride in their surroundings is represented from engineering watch movements which emulate the smooth motion of time passing, to creating dials reflecting the beauty of Japanese nature.

Equipped with a GMT hand, the rotating 24-hour bezel simultaneously displaying three different time zones. This timepiece is powered by the brand’s iconic Spring Drive movement, one of the most significant developments in recent watchmaking which took 28 years to develop.
